Főtér Festival Nagybánya

Főtér Festival is the largest Hungarian festival taking place in Baia Mare, typically during 3 days in mid-September every year, since 2009. Fő-tér translates to “main-square”, as the event happens in the historic city center. It is undistinguishable from the Nagybányai Magyar Napok (Baia Mare Hungarian Days) and it roughly happens between the Hungarian St. Stephen Day in 20 August (Az államalapítás ünnepe) and the local Chestnut Festival in September (Sărbătoarea Castanelor). Here are some images from a couple of days ago.

The festival signifies both culture, music and togetherness.

There was both shopping and food available, as well as a place for small kids, books and traditional crafts.

Hungarians from the entire Transylvania came here, as well as from Hungary.

And probably the main event, a rock concert performed by a 78 years old singer, Nagy Feró, that still has it.

The nice thing is that music can be understood by everyone.

The crowd playing with an inflatable orca whale, given by the music band leader and thrown into the air from one side to the other.
