Baia Mare Jesuit Church

The Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church of Baia Mare (Nagybányai Szentháromság Katolikus Templom, in Hungarian) is my favourite meditation place in Baia Mare.

It was built in the year 1717, in the Austrian Baroque style, by the Jesuits, on the place of the former medieval St. Martin church (whose ruins are still visible today near the entrance of present church).

There is a rather obvious similarity with the Piarist Church of Cluj-Napoca, the two churches being built at the same time and sharing the same style.

I often come here and sit on the available bench.

I look at the details and then I think…

The church is almost always closed.

But sometimes I come and see the religious service.

The most important prayers, however, are those we say in silence.
