The tower of Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Buda Castle (Mária Magdolna Torony) is the only part of the medieval church still standing today in Kapisztrán Square (Kapisztrán tér). It was built in the late 13th century, in the Gothic style, by the Hungarian community of Buda. The German population used to be a majority at that time and they used the Matthias Church – nowadays known as the Church of Our Lady of Buda Castle (Budavári Nagyboldogasszony-templom) – next to the Fisherman’s Bastion (Halászbástya).
The photos are taken while standing next to the ruins of the walls, then inside of what used to be the middle of the church. The vibe was eerie, with the summer wind blowing ahead of distant storms.
